@devianttea: I'm not sure why Sony made it this way, but you have to delete the disc version and download the digital version. I've done this with both Destiny games and a few others. Until you delete the disc version (even though both games are the same), it will require the disc to be inserted. Simply put the disc in your PS4, select the option to convert the game into a digital version. The PS4 installs the game onto your HDD, links the game and disc to your PSN account, making the disc only playable if your PSN account is logged in (with the ability to remove the disc authentication for a fee).
